Overview of Academic Viewpoints

The New Political History of the United States is a school that appeared in the 1960s. It was popular during the 1960s and 1970s, arousing extensive discussion in the field of American Political History. Although it gradually faded down in the 1980s, it's theory, method and practice provided an important foundation for the later development of political history. It is not only an important part in the ebb and flow of American political history, but also offers a way to understand thetendency of this field.

Rise and decline is the normalcy of American political history. Content, scope, even theresearch style changed so much from the end of World War II. How to explain the past politics? What kind of research object should be in the center of political history research arena? We never stop ask such questions. And the questions havealways been the focus of historians' debate. In recent years, political culture has received wide spread attention, and we can also see the reunion of political history and other social sciences. Both lay the foundation for the most note worthy direction of American political history.
