Prof. Hou Jianxin’s Article The Middle Ages and Meta-Rules of European Civilizationrecently won the second Prize of the Ninth National Outstanding Achievement Award for the Research of Humanities and Social Sciences in colleges and universities.

The article “Meta Rules” was published onHistorical Research, Issue 3, 2020.It is one of the core achievements of the national major project “The Evolution of European Civilization” with Prof. Hou Jianxin as the chief expert, which has aroused widespread concern and heated discussion. In the same year of its publication, theHistorical Researchand IEC jointly held the “Forum on European Civilization”, in which the meta-rules of European civilization proposed in the article was discussed.Journal of Historical Science(Issue 10, 2021) had a special column on “Meta Rules”, inviting scholars to discuss the topic of “Re-understanding of European Civilization”. “The article was also recognized as one of the “Top Ten Outstanding Historical Articles in 2020”, and was reprinted inXinhua Digest,China Social Science Excellence,China Social Science Today, andChina University Academic Abstracts, and other papers.
