The 2024 Annual Academic Conference and 13th General Meeting of Members, hosted by the China’s British History Association and organized by Department of History, Fudan University, was held at Fudan University from November 29 to December 1, 2024.

Some teachers and students from IEC attended the conference and delivered speeches. Among them, Professor Liu Jinghua gave a keynote speech at the conference, discussing the balance and coordination between the two opposing social systems of secular society and ecclesiastical system in medieval Western Europe. He believed that religion was not only a pillar of social stability in medieval Western Europe, but also promoted social change at critical moments. The elastic structure of the church provides a buffering and regulating effect for a rigid secular society, while the spiritual unity of Catholicism provides an order guarantee for the divided secular politics. Professor Liu Jinghua also presided over the closing ceremony of the conference.

Professor Gu Yanfang's speech topic is "Small and Micro Towns: High level Urbanization Trap in the Middle Ages", Professor Xu Bin's speech topic is "Institutional Choice Theory and the Origins of the Industrial Revolution by Asimoglu et al." Associate Professor Zhao Wenjun's speech topic is "Locke and the Birth of the Modern World - Historical Observations Based on Property Rights", and Professor Liu Yingqi's speech topic is For 'Lord Rothermere's role in promoting British appeasement policy', The topic ofDr. Wang Yuantian's speech is "The Modernization Transformation of England Frankalmoin Tenure", and the topic of Chen Guanlin，a PhD Candidate, is "A Study on the Social Attributes of St. Andrews University in Scotland in the 15th Century".
